this references july 26, bread of life! yeh - i've been looking for how the old testament prefigures the new testament and saw it in this reading - psalms 132:15, and 135:25 - am i on the right track ? also, i never realized that the editor recommends we ask the saint who is quoted for the day to pray with us as we read the passages. cool.
The prefigurement of the Eucharist in the Old Testament is the manna that God fed the Israelites in the Wilderness after they had left Egypt by God's miraculous provision for them. Although the manna was just a bread-like thin wafer, the Eucharist on the contrary is the actual Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ as He said in John chapter 6. God's feeding of the Israelites in the Old Testament was physical. Jesus' feeding in the New Testament is physical, spiritual and eternal.
