  1. OMG!!! Could anyone even imagine that mother who encouraged her last and only son to be strong and die a horrible death rather then disobey the Lord (how different than the past books of the old testament that we have been reading). She watched her sons die one by one - COOKED to Death! I so often don't even want my kids to face people saying mean things about them yet alone the thought of asking them to ....die! for what we believe.

So often when I read the lives of the saints as a child and I would wondered if I could do what they did? or give up what they did? or be strong when everyone else ran away? After the reading today those thoughts come rushing back. This woman was that example of a true saint of the old testament. Wow!
Today not only was I inspired by her strong example but, by St. Germaine Cousin and her quote, she was not a strong person in the worldly sense (she even died as a young person) but, was a true testament to God loving even the most insignificant, and doing great things in the lives of those who love Him. I especially love St. Germaine because I took her for my patron saint when I was confirmed. I have always loved her story but, no one else ever seems to know who she is. So I wear my little St. Germaine metal asking her to pray for me - being her tiny earthly fan club. If you ever get a chance her story is short but, beautiful!

I feel a bit renewed today! Thank you Lord
